InstRE Fellowship is the highest class of elected membership, and is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the Institution and Corps of Royal Engineers and to the advancement of the science of Military Engineering.

Fellows are entitled to use the letters FInstRE after their name and immediately after any letters of registration awarded by the Institution, under licence from the Engineering Council.

How much does it cost?

There is no fee to apply for Fellowship. When you become a Fellow you will need to continue to pay your annual Institution Membership subscription together with an additional £50 annual Fellowship fee.  Full details of costs are available via the Institution fees.

How to apply for Fellowship

Please first make sure you have updated your membership and website log in details as you will have to be logged into the website to start your application.

A successful Fellowship application relies on meeting the following guidance.

Fellow applicants need first to be a full Member of the Institution and have their application supported by a Sponsor, who must either be a Fellow of the Institution, or a current or former member of Council.

The Fellowship Committee is formed of three Vice Presidents of the Institution who make their assessments individually out of committee, with the whole process being administered by the Chief Executive.
