Wargaming
Why not try your hand at Wargaming, a valuable tool for any professional keen to develop the decision-making skills of their team?
Wargaming has long been a tool used by militaries and organisations to develop decision-making skills of their teams. When the prototype Kriegspiel was demonstrated to the Prussian King in the 1820s he exclaimed; ‘This is not a game, this is training for war’.
Wargaming can be offered, upon request, through the REHS to Units, HQs or other organisations. There are many benefits to using them, including:
- Having to absorb new facts (the rules) quickly and to identify the key issues.
- Making decisions based on limited knowledge, not all of which is correct.
- Dealing with a live opponent who wants to win as much as you do.
- Reacting to a changing situation, possibly when the initial plan has not worked, and adjusting the plan. Rapidly.
- Making unambiguous decisions under stress of time and/or information overload.
- Working in a compressed timeframe to get beyond the first phase of the operation.
The REHS offers the Overlord Wargame Event which is for 12 players, as well as a couple of umpires, for a full day Wargame. If you want to know more then please contact the REHS.
