Engineering Professional Registration Award
How to apply for Engineering Professional Registration Award
As part of the Defence Engineering Remuneration Review (DERR), the Army offers an Engineering Professional Registration Award (EPRA) to eligible regular soldiers and officers across the four technical cap badges for the attainment of professional registration at Engineering Technician (EngTech) / ICT Technician, Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng).
Payments will be made to eligible personnel who have gained one of the recognised qualifications since 1 April 2018. The scheme was reviewed in April 2020 and its applicability extended. Details of the revised eligibility criteria can be found in the amended instruction.
You do not qualify for the EPRA until you submit an application to the Institution of Royal Engineers (InstRE) for EngTech, IEng or CEng, and are successful in your application.
What should I do now?
- Apply and achieve an EngTech, IEng or CEng.
- Take your Engineering Registration certificate to a JPA Administrator and get the level recorded as a joint competence on your record.
- Apply to Army HQ through chain of command for the cash award.
- EPRA availability is enduring and does continue after March 2023.
