Thank you for your enquiry. Professional registration at all grades – engineering technician (EngTech) through to chartered engineer (CEng) – is open to all members of the Institution and we do not differentiate between reserve and regular applicants. However, we are able to take into account evidence of competence from both the reservist applicant’s own civilian job as well as their military experience which can be advantageous. Details on how to apply can be found on the WWW.InstRE.Org website under professional registration . The Army encourages professional registration under a scheme called the Engineering Professional Recognition Award (EPRA) which provides financial incentives for eligible regular soldiers who register as EngTech or CEng. InstRE have no direct involvement with EPRA. I have been advised by the Army that there are currently no plans to expand EPRA eligibility to the Reserves.
I am enquiring about the professional recognition award scheme. As a reservist we are not informed of what recognition if any is available to serving reservists.
